Dear friends
we are currently working to submit two youth exchange proposals to the Italian national agency of Youth in Action, at the 1st of February deadline.
We will apply in multimeasure (action 1) and therefore only Programme Countries are eligible.
How to apply for partnership.
After reading the general info on the projects and the specific info on each exchange, please choose only one you want to join (exception can be made only for members of IG network).
If your organization do not belong to Alliance, SCI or YAP network, please add a curriculum.
PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO ORGANIZATIONS, WILLING TO HOST AT LEAST ONE GROUP FROM INFORMAGIOVANI IN YOUTH EXCHANGES DURING 2011.

Priorities covered
Inclusion of youth with fewer opportunities, Year of volunteering, Global environmental challenges and climate change, creativity and entrepreneurship.
Local partners.
The projects are run in co-operation with local partners who are in different ways involved in environmental issues and to develop social economy connected to environment and legality.
Two local natural reserves and a social-company producing some organic agricultural goods.
Financial conditions.
Board and lodging are provided by us. Travel cost is covered 100% for one leader for the Advanced planning visit and 90% for all the participants to the exchange.
No participation fee.
Strict rules are applied in order to ensure 90% of travel reimbursement (rules are communicated to the selected partners).
Advanced planning visit
One leader from each partner organization MUST take part in an APV which will take place 3-4 weeks before the exchange.
This leader MUST be the same person leading the group during the exchange.
Agenda and working time
The agenda of the exchange, to be agreed among all partners will include education activities, informal learning activities, socialization and some work to be done in co-operation with the local partners.
This (light) manual work is part of the informal education process connected to environmental and active citizenship education, which is the core of the projects.
All participants must be aware of the fact that they will be required to do some manual work during the exchange. Example of the work is: painting wooden bird watch stations, plant new trees, clean benches, cut dry grass… All the work is done under assistance and guidance by experts.
Involvement of youth with fewer opportunities
Some of the participants to the youth exchanges are from underprivileged backgrounds or from groups at risk of social marginalization.
In selecting partners for this project we will give priority to those who have experience in involving disadvantaged youth and can involve at least one young with fewer opportunities in their group.
Half of the Italian group is composed by young people who are assigned to social affairs Offices.
Exchange 1
Project name "I Clean: Inquiring on climate, energy and nature"
Venue: eastern part of Sicily in the provinces of Catania and Siracuse
Accommodation: in a small lighthouse on the shores of Siracuse (see http://goo.gl/maps/nVNP for the map).
Probable sleeping on the floor with mattress and sleeping bags. Running water and cooking facilities provided.
Age of participants: 18-25. No age limit for one leader.
Number of participants: total 20, including leaders. Means 4 partner organizations with 4 participants plus one leader each.
Local partners: Natural reserve "Ciane river" and natural reserve "Simento river".
Dates: 16th of August – 4th of September (including travel)
Specific activities: workshop on recycling, debate on climate change and role of youth in promoting sustainable life styles, see movies and documentaries on the topic. Study on traditional way of producing paper from self-grown papyrus.
Work: clean banks and beds of the rivers.
Trips: visit to the Etna volcano and to the sea of eastern coasts of Sicily

Exchange 2
Project name "LEMON – Legality, mobilization, nature"
Venue: Partinico, 40 km east of Palermo.
The exchange is hosted in an agricultural field now managed by a social cooperative company belonging to an antimafia network. They produce organic lemon and its derivatives (lemon juice, jam, etc). The field was previously owned by a mafia boss.
Age of participants: 15-21
Number of participants: total 20, including leaders. Means 4 partner organizations with 4 participants plus one leader each.
Local partners: Social cooperative company "Libera-mente", Centre for Juvenile Justice of Sicily
Dates: 12th of June – 25th of June (including travel – please note that these dates can slightly change according to partners needs)
Specific activities: visit to some "places of memory" connected to mafia and antimafia history; workshop the link between legality and entrepreneurship; debate and role game on the role of youth in countering and preventing crime and corruption.
Work: clean the field and the trees, pick lemons, help in the production of lemon jam and other products.
Trips: visit to Natural reserves, to Palermo and northern coasts of Sicily
